ivy and cordatum in the new home

i feel like i’m climbing out of bed for the first time in five months and sheepishly brushing hair out of my eyes as i squint to see everyone again. hello, good morning, hello. can you believe that’s how long it’s been? five months.

i’ve been resting, focusing on work, healing, and – i’m thrilled about this part – moving into a new apartment! i live for new spaces and new home projects. after a year and a half of a “let’s save rent!” apartment, we just moved into a precious little 2 bedroom full of perfect natural light that i am reveling in. max and i have spent the last couple of weeks making it into our little sanctuary. and i’ll continue to do so for awhile. i’m so excited to slowly make my way back into sharing my little living spaces with you all. thank you for always listening.

this sentence deserves it’s own paragraph: i finally have an office!!

my plant addiction is thriving. this week’s babies have just found their new places. cordatum in the kitchen, and ivy in the office.

ps. i can’t stop listening to daughter. they’re stunning.

your writing sucks in comparison to the blogs you used to write. i can just tell, you lost something and it’s obvious that your work has steadily declined in the last 2 years especially since april. don’t fool yourself. whoever pays you for any services on the internet needs to get their heads examined.

    • Alec says:

I gladly pay for her creative work and services. Happy to know she has amazing fans to come back to if she ever decides to leave our company (which I hope never, ever happens).

    • Ashley says:

      Inspired.
I am INSPIRED every day, working with such an incredible artist and woman.

Lauren, I love you. I am grateful for you.

As a friend AND A COWORKER, I can tell you that your work has revolutionized my life. THANK YOU.

    • Sarah says:

Danny, I am sorry, but you are wrong. I’m not trying to be mean, and I’m not trying to put you down, but I wholly disagree with what you said. You don’t know how many lives she’s touched, and honestly, no one made you continue reading or posting comments that tear people down and degrade what they are doing.

Lauren, thank you so much for being a beacon in the dark world and an inspiration to girls like me. I have REALLY appreciated your blog, and it has meant a lot to me through many different trials. Thank you. A hundred times, thank you!

  2. kim says:

that’s my boyfriend danny and he’s a bit harsh but it’s kinda true. i used to look at your writing and think to myself, i wish i could write as well as lauren but now your writing is mediocre at best. i still enjoy what you have to say alot and hope you get back to your old self.

  3. Stephanie says:

Yeah, don’t listen to those who strive to bring you down. Your words used to be inspiring and i know that you’ll be back to your old self. You haven’t written for awhile and it’ll just take some time. love and more love.

  5. max says:

Danny & Kim, I used to read your comments and think, “i really hope to be obnoxious internet trolls like them” but this here, this is just mediocre at best. You’ve clearly lost your hateful and pathetic charm. It just seems like you’re trying too hard these days. I miss the old Danny and Kim. The Danny and Kim who weren’t afraid to let people really know how they feel about girls blogging about plants. And Kim, I would have told you not to fool yourself if you were thinking of dating Danny because anyone who gets this worked up over pictures of ivy and cordatum needs to have their head examined, but now I can see you two deserve each other.

    • Jassy Onya'e says:

Right? Lauren is lucky to be married to you. Her writing is amazing, and the fact that danny and kim choose to leave such negative comments is beyond me. Shit people have stuff too do, and Lauren is living her life taking care of business, etc. Glad she still even has the blog AND I love the plants. The writing is superb I try so hard to quote every time I see a sentence that I could easily copy on my twitter as my own words. haha Anyway
Lauren, you’re great, nuff said :)

    • Hahahahahaha oh my gosh Max. Amazing. So glad Lauren has you.

  6. katie says:

People are hilarious. I love that a simple “hey, I’m back and here’s a tidbit about my life” gets a full literary critique. Oy.

Welcome back, Lauren. You are lovely. And welcome back people of the internet. You are not as lovely, sometimes. But don’t worry, your comments on other people’s blogs will get better in time too.

  7. jillian says:

glad to see you are back, lauren. you are extremely talented in your writing – I am a huge fan of yours. looking forward to enjoying your future posts.

  8. Sarah says:

Taking you up on the “leave love” and saying a big welcome back! It’s lovely to hear from you again. I’m happy to know that someone else has plant babies as well. I even name mine! I’m fully looking forward to reading more of your thoughts.

  9. John says:

Seeing the lightbulbs made me smile. You’ve got a great sense of style, Lauren.

  10. Kara says:

you are a breath of fresh air. thanks for being so fantastic! you deserve nothing but hugs and plants and desserts <3

  11. rachel says:

So glad to have you back! I’ve been reading the crap out of the archives, but I’m glad to know you’re still writing :) The apartment looks lovely; I hope that mine comes somewhere close to as beautiful someday.

  12. You gotta love the internet…

And love you Lauren! The new apartment and office seem WONDERFUL!

  13. Becks says:

Wow, lots of hate already?! =/ Sorry. I just wanted to say I’m glad you’re back and hope to see more from you soon! And you’re making me want more plants!
